I was at the Picasso Museum Barcelona a few years ago and this image stopped me in my tracks. So much so that I now have a tattoo of Helene in this pose on my left arm. I love the idea of her putting on a wig and doing a live performance at the Surrealism Exhibition all the way back in 1938. There's something so punk about how she is part of the still life, grabbing at herself, and the masculine/feminine energy she is exuding. And that stare!

From Wikipedia: Hélène Vanel was a dancer, sculptor, and painter affiliated with the Surrealist movement of the 20th century. Not a great deal is known now of Vanel, though she was quite famous during her time.[1]
